Regional Strategy Convening on Climate Finance and Taxation

African countries are calling for restorative and reparative taxation measures that offer tangible remedies to communities most impacted by the climate crisis. 

This call was made during the second Regional Strategy Convening on Climate Finance and Taxation, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) extends its warmest congratulations to Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) on reaching an incredible milestone. 40 years of feminist organising, leadership, and transformative action. 

Since its founding in 1985, AMwA has been a cornerstone of the Pan-African feminist movement, a space where sisterhood is nurtured, voices are amplified, and leadership is cultivated. For four decades, AMwA has inspired and equipped generations of African women to lead boldly, challenge inequality, and reimagine a just and inclusive continent.

Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) are hosting an in-person side-event at the Africa Climate Summit on September 9, 2025, in Addis Ababa. 

Organised under the theme "Rethinking Fiscal Incentives for a Just Energy Transition: Lessons from Green and Fossil Fuel Regimes," this event will take place alongside the second Africa Climate Summit and will focus on how tax policies can facilitate a just energy transition in Africa.
