The Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) advocates for equitable and transparent tax systems across Africa to address social and economic disparities. We emphasize progressive taxation, ensuring that wealthier individuals and corporations contribute their fair share to public revenues, which helps fund essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure. TJNA also addresses critical issues such as corruption, debt, and illicit financial flows (IFFs), calling for improved transparency in financial transactions, stronger anti-corruption measures, and international cooperation to combat tax evasion. By focusing on progressive taxation, TJNA aims to reduce income inequality, promote social justice, and enhance accountability in both tax administration and public expenditure.
In addition to addressing broader tax justice issues, TJNA advocates for inclusive policies that consider the unique needs of vulnerable populations, such as women, youth, and marginalized communities. We push for gender-sensitive and youth-inclusive tax reforms, ensuring that tax systems do not disproportionately burden these groups. Furthermore, TJNA promotes the importance of citizen participation in tax policy decisions, advocating for systems that are democratic and responsive to the needs of the people. By fostering collaboration among governments, civil society, and international partners, we seek to build sustainable tax systems that generate the resources needed for development while tackling corruption and financial injustices across the continent.
