Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) will participate in the Future of Energy Conference (FEC) 2026, taking place on 25–26 August 2026 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana, bringing a tax justice and domestic resource mobilisation perspective to conversations on how Africa can finance its industrial and energy transformation.
Under the theme “Powering Africa’s Industrial Transformation: Energy Systems for Value Addition and Competitiveness,” FEC 2026 comes at a critical moment as African countries seek to translate the continent’s vast energy and mineral potential into industrial development, value addition and greater economic competitiveness.
The conference will bring together policymakers, industry, finance, civil society, academia and regional institutions to examine the cost of energy in Africa, reliability constraints, financing, regional energy integration and the policy choices required to build energy systems capable of supporting industrialisation. As outlined in the FEC 2026 concept note, the conference moves beyond questions of energy access to focus on the structural conditions required for industrialisation, value addition and long-term competitiveness.
TJNA at FEC 2026: Financing Africa’s Green Industrialisation
As part of the FEC 2026 Deep Dive Dialogues, TJNA will contribute to the conference’s thematic focus on Financing Industrial Energy Infrastructure through a partner-led side session titled: Financing Africa’s Green Industrialisation in the Energy Transition
The discussion will interrogate a critical question for Africa’s energy transition: How can African countries finance the energy infrastructure needed for industrialisation while protecting fiscal space and advancing domestic value addition?
While external and blended finance remain important, Africa’s green industrial transformation also requires greater attention to domestic resource mobilisation, fair taxation, strategic fiscal policies and trade measures. The session will explore how these tools can finance sustainable energy systems while ensuring that incentives for green industrialisation do not undermine the public revenues needed for Africa’s broader development.
The conversation will also examine the implications of measures such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for Africa’s competitiveness and consider how energy, industrial, fiscal and trade policies can be better aligned to advance value addition and economic transformation.

As Africa pursues its energy transition, the question is not only how the continent generates cleaner energy, but how that transition can power industrialisation, mobilise domestic resources, strengthen value addition and deliver sustainable economic transformation.
