Tax Justice Network Africa will be participating at the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), which will take place from October 21 to October 26 2024, in Washington, D.C., USA.

The IMF-World Bank annual meetings bring together leaders from government, business, international organizations, civil society, and academia from around the globe to keep exploring joint action on a range of issues related to poverty reduction, international economic development and finance, building human capital, and strengthening resilience.

The meetings are held for two consecutive years at the World Bank Group and IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., and every third year in another member country. Morocco hosted the 2023 Annual Meetings.

Plenary Session 3: Key Lessons Learnt from the Development of the Anti-IFFs Policy Tracker.

This session will highlight lessons learned from the development of TJNA’s Anti-IFFs Policy Tracker, a key initiative designed to monitor the progress and effectiveness of anti-IFFs policies across Africa. The session will focus on how the tool has enhanced the understanding of policy gaps in tackling IFFs across the continent even before it has been implemented. The session will unpack the methodology for the tool and allow delegates to interact with the tool, its indicators, the clusters, and its assessment methodology.

Debrief Meeting on The UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation and Implications for Developing Countries

This meeting will provide a comprehensive overview of the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation and discuss the possible impacts and benefits for developing countries. Delegates will share insights and strategies for effective engagement in the upcoming negotiations and identify areas where developing countries need support to fully engage in international tax cooperation and to help capacitate the countries. The meeting will also identify the next steps to be taken by developing countries to optimize the opportunities presented by the ongoing work as a critical step towards enhancing tax cooperation and supporting sustainable development in developing countries.
