Tax Justice Network Africa will host its third Anti-IFFs Policy Tracker piloting workshop from 7 to 9 April 2025 in Accra, Ghana.

Led by TJNA, in collaboration with the African Union- Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Minerals Department (AU-ETTIM) and the Africa Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), the workshop will bring together key Ghanian government institutions to collaboratively use the tool and assess efforts to combat illicit financial flows in Ghana.

This workshop aims to assess the practical application of the Anti-IFFs Policy Tracker by identifying any challenges and gathering feedback for improvement. The Tracker’s methodology focuses on four key thematic areas, namely: policy and legislation , institutions information and data and interagency cooperation.

Each thematic area features a set of recommendations that encapsulate desired national outcomes in the fight against IFFs. These have been converted into measurable indicators, making it possible for country-level stakeholders to conduct self-assessments and access actionable insights for effective interventions.

The pilot of the Anti-IFFs Policy Tracker will target various government stakeholders that are involved in work that has direct implications on IFFs. It will aim to identify high-risk areas in the financial system, recommend policy reforms, and enhance cooperation among national and regional stakeholders. The findings will contribute to a broader Anti-IFFs strategic framework for Africa. They will be presented at the African Union's 3rd STC Subcommittee on Taxation and IFFs in May 2025 to guide future interventions.

TJNA remains committed to its mission to combat IFFs and foster transparency. The outcomes of this workshop are expected to shape effective strategies that will pave the way for a brighter future for Africa's economies.
